This is The Spicy Peruvian, a monthly-ish newsletter by Peruvian comic artist & writer Gustaffo Vargas. It will have updates, behind the scenes and comic projects I’m working on.
There is this tip of the iceberg metaphor of what the artist shows, versus all the process nobody sees. Any creative endeavour is full of processes, and the result is just a part of it. That’s where all the creative battles and decisions take place, full of sweat, effort and joy… without process there’s nothing.
--unless someone steals those precious skills from other people and pretend they have a process that leads them to a finished piece, like digusting generative AI results. -- sigh…
Henchman Cover
I was asked to do the Cover for Henchman #3 for Titan Comics! This was a fun project!
Here you can see some bits of the process: layouts, pencils and inks.
The Final Order Cutoff for this issue is 27th of April, and it will be in stores in the 20th of May.

I just received copies of my variant cover for Exquisite Corpses #12!!!! And it looks so gooood!!!! Go pick up this amazing story created by James Tynion IV and Michael Walsh, among many other talented creators, and published by Image Comics and Tiny Onion.

Good pal Losty, guest writer in Olympos:Nullhunter and all over amazing writer and artist, has a new anthology in Kickstarter! I love EVERYTHING that Losty creates, and this one should be on your radars! --and just check that amazing line up of artists!!!
Ruffian Meat is an anthology of horror, sci-fi and unsettling comics. Five of which are written by Losty. And one story by Gretchen Felker-Martin. With art from amazing collaborators: Marie Enger, Michael Walsh, Sajan Rai, Artyom Trakhanov, Sloane Hong ,Connor McCann.

OF THE EARTH
I had the pleasure to have a first read of issue #1 of ‘Of The Earth’, from another great pal, and amazing writer Chris Condon, with art by Charlie Adlard and colours by Pip Martin, published by IMAGE Comics, and coming soon!
Chris has the special talent to write horror that makes you feel uncomfortable, but yet you can’t stop reading it. Of the Earth is an eco horror thriller that I’m sure will stick to you as it’s stuck with me!
Of the Earth FOC is Monday, April 27. The book is out on May 20.
